Fruit Tray Thermoforming Machine

HengXing fruit tray thermoforming machine is built for continuous production of plastic fruit trays, fresh produce trays and clamshell fruit packaging. It heats and forms PP, PET, PS and PLA sheet into customized tray shapes, with forming, cutting and stacking integrated in one automatic line.

The line suits manufacturers supplying strawberry, blueberry, grape, cherry, tomato, peach and apple packaging to supermarkets, packhouses and fresh-produce distributors.

H2 What Fruit Trays Can This Machine Produce?

Customized molds let one machine run multiple tray designs:

  • Plastic fruit trays and fresh produce trays
  • Strawberry trays and blueberry punnets
  • Grape trays and cherry trays
  • Tomato trays, peach and apple packaging trays
  • Plastic fruit boxes and clamshell-style packaging
  • Multi-compartment trays for mixed fruit
  • Supermarket retail display trays
H2 Suitable Materials: PP, PET, PS and PLA

PP — Lightweight and tough. The usual choice for high-volume fresh fruit trays that must survive cold chain and stacking.

PET — High clarity. Used where the fruit itself is the selling point and the tray has to show it, such as premium berry and grape packaging.

PS — Low cost, rigid. Suited to disposable trays and short-shelf-life retail packaging.

PLA — Bio-based. Formable on the same line within its own temperature window; confirm the sheet grade and food-contact specification with your supplier before committing a mold.

H2 How the Production Line Works
Sheet feeding → Heating → Forming → Cutting → Stacking

Sheet is fed by servo into the heating oven and brought to forming temperature. The heated sheet is pressed over or into the mold under vacuum and positive air pressure, which gives sharper detail and more even wall thickness than vacuum alone — the reason fruit trays stack cleanly and seal consistently.

After forming, trays are cut from the sheet in the same cycle and counted into stacks. Integrating these three steps removes manual handling between stations, which is where most scrap and labour cost sits in a semi-automatic setup.

H2 Why Manufacturers Choose HengXing

Continuous automatic production — Forming, cutting and stacking run in one cycle instead of three separate operations.

Customized molds — Tray size, cavity count, depth and stacking are engineered to your drawing or sample.

Servo-driven feeding — Repeatable sheet positioning, so tray dimensions stay inside tolerance across a long run.

Multi-material configuration — Heating zones and forming parameters are set per material, not shared across all of them.

Complete line supply — Machine, molds, chiller, compressor and granulator sized together, so nothing becomes the bottleneck.

Since 1999 — 27 years manufacturing thermoforming machinery, exported to Southeast Asia, Mexico, South Africa and Europe.

H2 Applications by Fruit

Strawberry packaging — Shallow trays and punnets, sized to standard punnet counts, clear or colored.

Blueberry packaging — Multi-cavity trays and lidded containers with venting for cold chain.

Grape packaging — Trays with sufficient depth and rigidity for bunch weight; PET for visibility.

Cherry packaging — Deeper, narrower cavities to stop rolling and bruising in transit.

Supermarket retail display — Trays designed for shelf presentation, pallet stacking and label area.

Clamshell containers — Hinged one-piece designs formed and cut in a single cycle.

H2 Customized Solution: What We Need From You

Every fruit tray differs in size, cavity layout, wall thickness, transparency, stacking height and output target. Send us:

  • Product drawing, sample, or photo with dimensions
  • Material and sheet thickness
  • Tray dimensions and forming depth
  • Cavity count required
  • Target output per hour or per shift
  • Cutting method and stacking requirement
  • Destination country and power supply

Our engineering team returns a machine configuration and mold proposal against those inputs.

H2 FAQ

What materials can be used for plastic fruit trays? PP, PET, PS and PLA. The right choice depends on required transparency, rigidity, cold-chain performance and food-contact specification — not on what the machine can technically form.

Can one machine produce different tray sizes? Yes. Tray size and shape are set by the mold. Changing product means changing the mold and loading a saved parameter recipe, not changing the machine.

Can the machine cut and stack automatically? Yes, on configurations that include the cutting station and stacker. Confirm this at quotation stage — it is a configuration choice, not standard on every build.

Can you make a mold for a tray we already produce? Yes, from drawings, samples or measured dimensions.

What information is needed for a quotation? Drawing or sample, material, sheet thickness, tray dimensions, cavity count, target capacity, automation level and destination country. Power supply matters: a 50 Hz machine will not deliver rated output on 60 Hz supply without configuration changes.
